Roderick Strong vs. Drew McIntyre

Crowd relatively reserved for this match. McIntyre with the sizable size advantage. Strong hurdles a whip attack and delivers a leg lariat. Went to the well again too early as McIntyre stops it in it’s tracks the second time and McIntyre with an impressive suplex. Roddy back on the offensive, sending Drew outside, where they both go strike for strike. Roddy charges in, but Drew pops him up into the steel post. Referee with the slowest ten count of all time as they’re both still outside. Roddy back in, enziguri on the apron, then drops McIntyre back first onto the “hardest part of the ring.” Strong rolls back in as we go to break.

We’re back and the back and forth is still going. Strong with the minor upper hand with a slightly disheveled abdominal stretch. McIntyre works his way up, but then Roddy throws several haymakers. McIntyre now down in the corner as Roddy looks to finish the job. Several more kicks and stomps from the messiah of the…back breaker. Drew selling his behind off for Strong as he gets locked into another upper body submission. Drew fights out again and a huge clothesline creates space. Kick to the midsection then head from Strong, runs the ropes, but promptly gets thrown by a belly-to-belly by McIntyre. We’ve reached the battle of wills in the middle of the ring portion of the match, which McIntyre gets the best of. McIntyre heads up top for an ax handle. Reverse Alabama Slam by McIntyre, which looked amazing, leads to a pin and a long two. Drew strikes up the band for the Claymoore, but Strong ready with a jumping knee counter. The back breaker specialist finally lands one to even the odds. Another knee strike from Strong, then heads up top, but a huge head butt sends Strong crumbling. Both men caught up in the ropes, Drew caught up in the Tree of Woe. None other than the NXT Champion Bobby Roode runs down the ramp to take out both men, and does so quite giddily.

Result: No Contest–Interference

Roode gloats as McIntyre tries to will himself up. Roode hits the Glorious DDT and leaves his challenger laying. He blows a kiss to Strong for good measure as the crowd chants “you suck” at the glorious one. We get one good GLORIOUS from Roode as he stands tall to end the episode. Side note; security was slightly slow in protecting the main event.

We are back and William Regal is in the ring.  He brings out the two men who will be wrestling for the NXT Title at Takeover: Brooklyn. Out first is Drew McIntyre.  Out next is the champion Bobby Roode.  Roode is flanked by Full Sail security.

Bobby says these gentlemen are his personal security detail.  They are here to protect everyone from a madman named Roderick Strong who is trying to get his hands on him.  Roode says he would hate for Strong to ruin that big money match at Takeover. Roode says they are here to protect him more than Drew.  Roode officially welcomes Drew back to the WWE.  You came out and talked about the past and the mistakes you made. You talked about feeling entitled and how Roode feels the same way now.

Roode tells Drew you’re damn right he is entitled.  Bobby says he doesn’t need a second chance.  From the moment he walked into this company, he said he was going to make a change and be the face of this brand.  Roode said that he would become the NXT Champion. Roode reminds Drew that he has done everything he said he would do.  Whether you like it or not, this is his NXT.  It is not yours, it is not theirs, it is not WE. It is his NXT.

You talked about how you were christened the Chosen One. Roode says he did not need to be chosen. Everybody knows that Bobby Roode is simply The One.

Drew says he has to give Roode some credit.  You are the prototype of a champion.  You have had one of the best years of any NXT Champion. There is one big problem with Bobby Roode and his title reign.  Drew says that Roode is an ass.  He thought Roode was a facade but Bobby believes all the crap coming out of his mouth.  The higher Roode gets, the harder he will fall when Drew gives him a Claymore.  At the end of the Glorious Entrance, you will be standing across from the new NXT Champion.

Roderick Strong comes out and he wants to say something.  He says he knows what William Regal said.  You can fine him if you want. Roderick says he is not done with Bobby Roode.  You talk about the NXT Title.  This is not about the NXT Title.  This is about you disrespecting his fiance and his family.  This is about you disrespecting him as a man.  Roderick says he is calling out Bobby.  This is not about the title or Brooklyn.  Roode says this is about a fight.  He says he wants to fight Bobby.  Roderick asks if he is man enough.

Roode tells Strong to shut up.  If you want a fight, he is not afraid of Strong.  Roode says he will put his title on the line.  If you want a fight, you got a fight.  All you have to do is go through Drew McIntyre first.  If you beat Drew next week, he will see him after Takeover.

Regal says he is the one who makes the matches.

Drew says to make the match.  He knows the games that Bobby is trying to play.  Drew says he will fight anybody, anywhere, any time.  You will not have the title after Brooklyn.  He will fight Roderick next week and then four days later, he will beat Bobby Roode.

Bobby says everyone is so enthralled with “We Are NXT”  Drew and Roderick want the match.  Bobby says the people want the match.  We are NXT so make the the match Mr. Regal.

Regal says he is all about giving the NXT Universe what they want so next week, Drew McIntyre faces Roderick Strong and if Strong wins, he faces Roode after Takeover.

Bobby says it will be GLORIOUS.

We go to commercial.

Bobby Roode has asked for time to respond to both Roderick Strong and Drew McIntyre. Production sets him up backstage. First, he addresses Roddy, using the lottery metaphor again.  Bobby Roode says that Rodrick Strong tried to play the Bobby Roode lottery and he lost. Not only did Roode beat Strong, he proved he is the better man. Strong doesn’t belong in Roode’s NXT. As far as Drew McIntyre goes, McIntyre claims to be a new man and maybe he is. Next week, McIntyre can get in the ring with Roode and have a conversation. Roode says he is done here. Before he can leave Strong runs in and tries to attack him, but security gets in the way. NXT Commissioner William Regal chastises Strong for his overly aggressive behavior. Strong asks Regal what he is supposed to do. Roode disrespected Strong’s family. Strong wants Roode (heh). Regal says his hands are tied. The match at Takeover: Brooklyn is set. Strong walks away in a huff.
